In collaboration with Fokdal Springvand A/S our group has sought to develop nozzles for the creation of laminar and hollow-jet water fountains. Hollow-jet water fountains have the advantage of using significantly less water, and thereby reducing the required pump-power. Different nozzle designs have been manufactured and tested, and the result was a laminar hollow jet able to maintain its integrity for up to 1 meter before collapsing in on itself. The result was a strong reduction in pump power, but with a small trade-off on the esthetics of the jet.
