Conference - GRØN DYST 2010

2010-06-25 - 2010-06-25, Technical University of Denmark (Anker Engelundsvej 1, 2800 Kgs Lyngby, Denmark)

The GRØN DYST Student Conference was held for the first time on 25 June 2010. More than 220 students had responded to the challenge and registered 93 course projects or Bachelor/Masters projects in the Green Battle. Some students presented their projects in poster or laptop sessions, whereas others presented technical artifacts in free style sessions. The many keen attendees had plenty of opportunities to learn about the students´ projects and results, and some fortunate students were offered project-based employment at a company. The judging panels, which included representatives from the political arena and the corporate world, as well as teachers and students from DTU, evaluated the projects during the afternoon. Each project was evaluated according to its technological relevance, originality, pedagogical potential, and the way it was presented. Key to the evaluation was also the way in which green issues – sustainability, climate technology and the environment – were incorporated in the project. At the official award ceremony, Lykke Friis, the former Minister for Climate and Energy, presented prizes for the best projects. The first prize was DKK 25,000 for the best course project at Bachelor and Masters level, and DKK 5,000 for the best Masters thesis and Bachelor project. The ceremony was followed by a reception, with beer sponsored by Grontmij | Carl Bro. A BBQ was held in the Oticon Hall and the Danish rock band D-A-D blasted a very successful conference to a close.
